Soap-Box Time

Why America is in trouble.

We are a REPUBLIC, not a democracy. The gradual disinformation of our young by the Liberal left is brainwashing our children. The Universities brainwash the future teachers of our youth. It started back in the 1960's and now we have a second generation of liberalized teachers in our schools. The result of this infiltration is that more students lack basic skills to think for themselves. They are being socialized. This indocternation has resulted in lower math and reading skills. The idea of personal responsibility has been replaced with political correctness. Our US History is being distorted by trying to hold those living in the past to our modern mores. Instead it should be used to show how society can better itself over time. But that would cause conflict for those who would remove all trace of God from our society.
If a child learns practical critical thinking skills, they could read such things as the Federalist Papers and understand why the Bill of Rights are so important.
They would know the difference between a religion being established by the government, and a secular society which was never the intention of our fore fathers. There is no right "from" religion in the Bill of Rights. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, the true meaning is clear if one realizes the historical context. This meant that the government was prohibited to establish a religion that would be like "The Church of England". In other words, the seperation of church and State means the government was prohibited from being a religion. Those who believe in a secular society conveniently forget about the second part of that line; or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; One only need look at how a portion of our society has lost all moral ethics and the violence in our streets has esculated in the last 3 decades to see the results of our present education system and the influence by the Liberal Left.
One word of caution to those who believe Hillary isn't a godless socialist, watch her during the Pledge or National Anthem. She either coughs, covers her mouth, or hides her face to keep anyone from seeing her not mention his name.
These are just my observations and educated opinions.
Remember to vote.

Why we went back to Iraq

First off let me fill you in on some of my back-ground.
I served in SAC during Nam & the Cold War as part of a Nuke Disaster Preparedness Team. Due to the sensetive nature of the position, I learned a few things that I'm not at liberty to share. I can tell you this. We were taught about dealing with weapons of mass destruction. What they can do to people isn't acceptable. The world should take a moment to think about history. How many people died because of the world's failure to enforce the Treaty of Versailles? Why should Saddam have been allowed to thumb his nose at the UN? After Desert Storm he signed a Treaty, he didn't lived up to the sanctions. The cat and mouse game is now over. Saddam has been removed from power along with his regime. He was found hiding like a rat in a hole. He didn't even try to fight his way out. Just another cowardly bully who was nothing without thugs to do his dirty work.
Why did some people of the world rally to protest a mass murderer from being stopped?
Yes I'm talking about Saddam.
He was a ruthless dictator. He was the only person to use NERVE GAS during a war, and on his own people despite the Geneva Convention's Ban on the use of such weapons. His ambition was the destruction of Israel. He was confident that the Arab world would have accepted him as their leader if he had succeeded.
Are you tired of the Media HYPE moaning that we haven't found the WMD? I guess undeclared nucleur material doesn't count. Those mobile weapons labs were just designed to make fertilizer, RIGHT! The hunt continues.
March 17, 2003, Sadamned finally ADMITTED that Iraq HAD possessed W.M.D. but had destroyed them all. That followed years of denial that they ever had them. What will it take to wake up the world that Sadamned was a madman who had to be stopped?
I'm PROUD to be an American.
Our soldiers sacrificed to free another countries people.
I'll never buy another French, German, or Russian made product.
They only wanted Iraq's Oil and continued commerce.
France stopped any new UN resolutions by refusing to come to the negotiations. Could it be they were afraid we'd discover the weapons deals made after the 1991 UN Sanctions.
This is the same mindless sentiment that allowed Hitler to build a mass army.
Must we repeat history? Thank God President Bush was well aware of the dangers and acted through UN Resolution 1441.
News: 3/22/03
Live Television shots of destroyed SCUDS.
Report from Bagdad: "We have no SCUDS."
Live Television shots of BURNING OIL WELLS.
Report from Bagdad: "We have not set any oil wells on fire."
Live Television shots of large numbers of IRAQ soldiers who surrendered.
Report from Bagdad: "None of our troops have surrended."
Live Television shots from deep inside IRAQ, Cities & Ports liberated.
Report from Bagdad: "The US has not been able to take one town."
Did Bagdad Bob think the world was blind?
Denial was Sadamneds standard response, but I will miss Bagdad Bob.
Now IRAQ is Free. Hundreds of Thousands civilians were not killed.
Iraqi's rejoiced welcoming our troops once the fear of Sadamned's regime was over.
Why did the misguided protestors want to prevent Iraqi people from enjoying the freedom of speech so many Americans take for granted?
How did a person from Iraq feel about the anti-war protests?

Freedom isn't FREE!
Support the new Iraq!
May they learn to identify
themselves as Iraqi citizens.
I hope they will be tolerent
of their Religious differences.

What Is Wrong With American Work Ethics?

I am sick & tired of dealing with people expecting a paycheck just because they show up for work. You know the kind of person I am talking about. They ignore you while talking on the phone (usually a personal call) or act like you are disturbing their gossip time with fellow workers. The same type of person constantly puts you on hold or tells you that it is not their department. Some Government workers are the worse. Constantly pointing you in the wrong direction, not giving you all the information that you need, and treating you like dirt. These SAME people EXPECT top-notch service when it is their turn to shop, eat, or gather information.

Why do they do it?

We let them get away with it.

Tell them you want to see their supervisor.

If they claim one is not available, tell them you want to see the BOSS or OWNER! If that does not work, make a LOUD PUBLIC SCENE! Invite a reporter along for your next visit.

Nobody deserves a free ride!

We as Americans need to regain our work ethics and values.   Our products use to be of such a high quality that Made in the USA carried an amount of public pride.

HOW CAN WE GET THAT PRIDE BACK?

Treat EVERYONE just like YOU want to be treated.

If you want respect you must be willing to give it.

Do your job as if the company will fail without you.

Every minute you spend not doing your job while on the clock is the same as stealing from your employer. Attention Government employees! You are stealing from us.

If you're an employer, treat your workers as your best asset.

If you don't like your job, get training in something you enjoy doing.

Don't make everyone else miserable just because you hate your job.

Everyone MUST contribute SOMETHING useful to society. The exception of course are those who due to no fault of their own are physically unable to do so.

I'm a quadriplegic, but I'm going to college so that even in my condition I can  someday contribute to society again.

If you don't believe that you are responsible for your own life, you deserve nothing in return.

Nobody who is capable deserves a free ride. Society does not OWE you a thing.

Earn it the old fashion way.

There are plenty of programs available for those who want a better life.

But YOU have to WANT to do it.

We can make America a better place.

But WE have to do it.

We can't & shouldn't rely on the government to do it for us.

What has happened to Ethos in our Journalists and Reporters? The news is no longer unbiased. The sensationalism that passes as news today is tabloid junk.
The TV News.
"It's 5 A.M. and time for the news". Three to four hours of repetitious B.S. that gets off being 'news worthy'. This is then followed by no less than three; hour long talk shows of either emotion filled tear-jerking content or you can feel good about yourself compared to me garbage. It's time for more news at noon (rehash of morning news), which is followed by more moronic talk shows. The 3 O'clock hour starts off with the afternoon tabloid news shows. Learn what your favorite celebrity is doing and what kind of trash the networks can dig up on them. 4 P.M. and its time for the early edition of the evening news, which will be followed by the evening news. Don't touch that dial, 20-20 will follow the 'fill in a name' special news hour. If your still not satisfied you can watch CNN or some other all news channel until 9 or 10 O'clock when you can get more news.

With marginal slicing and dicing and a change of cast the big networks news programs cannot be differentiated from each other. The same holds true of most of the talk shows. The down and out tabloid news programs seem to be cloned from the same mold. Even the independent local news channels resemble each other. (With the exception of FOX Cable News.) With all this mediocrity television has gone to the dogs. In fact they have their own shows on the Animal Planet.

The big 3, ABC, NBC, and CBS are the most boring with all the cast members 'feeling the pain' of the victims in the short 'sound bite' segments. These teleprompter readers portray themselves as reporters but are in reality poor excuses for actors. The independent news anchors are a little more entertaining with on the air pranks and sometimes a bit of humor. All however leave me feeling nauseated. Thank God for FOX Cable & the internet.

Where is the truth?
Today the media known as news is carefully controlled as to not step on the toe's of the sponsors. Owners direct Producers who in turn instruct the Directors on what is an acceptable story. The Bean counters are making decisions that effect everything. We as consumers are the losers of it all. The truth has been replaced with entertainment. I for one am thankfull for the "No Spin Zone". O'Reilly calls it like he see's it. His is a voice of reason in a sea of mediocrate.

How can one distinguish TRUTH from LIES, Propaganda from Rumor?

The real beauty of truth is that it does not hide. This does not meen it is easy to find. Nor may it be easy to prove. Here are a few of Aristotles guidelines that will help you find the truth.

Is the Pathos {use of emotion} totally negative or lack a real heartfelt plea?
Is the information, arguement, or statement based soley on emotion? This is the weakest of reasoning powers and should not be the only basis for rational thought.

Is the logos {logic} flawed and full of unsupported assertions?
Post Hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc {to conclude that one event is asserted to be the cause of a later event simply by virtue of having happened earlier}. Doesn't prove a thing.
Overgeneralizations prove nothing. It shows that the speaker has no real proof.
Without any facts have they resorted to Ad Hominem {personal attacks on character based soley upon unproven falsehoods or conjecture}?
Without logic, false Anologies are made due in part to jumping to a conclusion not supported by fact.

"Ethos" Ethic quality of the person from whom the information comes from. Do they have something to gain, {Ratings, Fame and fortune etc}? Are they trying to cover something up, {redirection of attention}?
Do they keep repeating themselves? Liars often resort to this tactic hoping that repetition will somehow make it true. Ex. Some people will be swayed due to remembering that they heard that information before, so they convince themselves that it must be true.

If they have failed any of Aristotles 3 truths of debate, chances are they are not telling the truth.

The truth is out there.
But where can one find it? There are a lot of dependable information sources on the Web. This does not meen that everything available on them is true. One must be subjective and not take information as truth simply because it was from a reputable site. Sometimes the information is nothing more than an individuals opinion. The .edu sites are a good place to do research. The .edu stands for education and usually are university sites. Lately some of the gov sites have been posting questionable biased information.
Granted that Aristotle lived a long time ago, but truth is timeless. Only our perception changes.

Searching for intelligence on modern television.

Daytime television has changed into tabloid vision. The morning news has grown from a half hour of information into three to four hours of quasi entertainment. Gone are the numerous game shows and soap operas. Talk shows and their clones that try to out sensationalize one another now dominate the airwaves. Several of these shows are now on twice a day with reruns in the morning and more of the same in the afternoon. The afternoon movie with its theme of the week has given way to an afternoon line up of one talk show after another. Is this a conspiracy by the networks to insure lack of choice thereby eliminating channel surfing? Is it an organized plot by corporations who do not want intelligent workers staying home to watch television? Is this why television is called The boob tube?

The advent of cablevision promised the consumer more of what we want. So far it seems to be more of what we have already seen. The recycling of old sitcoms, drama, and other garbage now has to be paid for by the viewer. Does this mean the consumer can watch these programs without the interruption of commercials? Hell no! Quiet the contrary now there is the infomercial, a program that is a commercial. Within a few years the infomercial has grown from a bad idea into a programmers delight. No longer do they have to find movies for the insomniacs to watch that will keep the audience from changing channels in order to keep ratings up. Nor do they do have to find sponsors or schedule commercials.

For me daytime television begins at 3:30 P.M. with Jeopardy. I miss the old game shows that entertained while making you think. Then at 4 P.M. it is over and I get back to my homework. I guess I should be thankful to all the programmers and television executives who have made sure that there is nothing on to distract me. The evening hours sometime have a little more to offer. The Discovery Channel (TDC) and The Learning Channel (TLC) represent what television could be, educational and informative the way PBS(Public Broadcast System) use to be.

It has been said that there will soon be five hundred channels to choose from. Of course this will probably include two hundred pay per view channels where you can pay extra to view the movies that were suppose to be on the premium movie channels you already pay extra for. This is above and beyond the monthly basic fee and the extended basic fee. I almost forgot to mention the additional digital programming fee to which you will have to add a monthly control box rental fee. Do you want a cable modem connection for surfing the net? It will only cost an additional forty dollars per month. What will the consumer get for this sizable monthly investment? Will the consumer ever find intelligent life on the boob tube? Stay tuned for the answer after a word from our sponsors.
